Since this was the most recent plugin I had installed and it was used for streaming video, I decided to try removing this plugin, and this resolved the problem. I recently installed a Slingbox at home and to test to make sure it was streaming properly, I installed the SlingPlayer Safari plugin on my iMac. I read on Techspot that Safari now has native support for Netflix, in other words the Silverlight plugin is no longer needed (see ) so, I removed the Silverlight plugin. I tried the three recommendations from Netflix to resolve the issue (i.e., reboot, quit open media players, and clear Netflix website data - see ), but none of these actions resolved the problem. Read on if you're interested in the troubleshooting steps I took to get to the problem resolution. To get straight to the point, removing the SlingPlayer Safari plugin resolved the problem. I started getting an error when trying to stream videos from Netflix in Safari (version 9.0.3). I have a 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 iMac with 4 GB of memory, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB graphics, running El Capitan 10.11.3.
